I just installed new pads and calipers on a 1998 E150 that I recently purchased. Brake fluid is green. Any ideas why the fluid is green?

what kind of green? like statue of liberty green, OD green, or bright florescent green?

It is more like bright green. It is like the fluid has green dye in it.

Look for a phone number on the brake fluid bottle and call them and ask if this is the regular color. If not, you will have to flush the entire system and refill. All of the brake fluid that I have used has been clear. When it get old, it has a rust or brown color after it's has been over heated. Good luck. (:-O)

Actually Fords will turn old fluid green and it is quite normal to see. The green comes from copper in the system and can be flushed out. You should completely change brake fluid every 2 years anyway so that's what I would do.

Canuckster I thought I thought I was the only one that did that. Same goes for antifreeze. My wife's 96 Outback has never had a hydraulic leak or a coolant leak, same for my 2000 Tundra. Which reminds me, the Subie is do for another transfusion.
