Replace brake line questions

I have 92 Ranger XLT, 4 cyl. Brake line connecting front to back has a hole and has to be replaced. It is about 8 ft. long with many bends. Many questions:
1. Can I get an original?
2. Am I better off "making one using pre-fab lengths?
3. the original has 2 different sizes of "flared fittings." The back one is smaller than the front one. Does that seem logical?
4. The original is in the channel of the chassis, I don't want to fight the rust and think I'd be ok securing it to the chassis with insulated clamps.
Any ideas?

if you know how to use a double flaring tool, my best answer is to get a section a little longer than you need to replace the section with the hole, get 2 double sided compression fittings in the same size (=>+<=) if that makes sense, cut the length out, slide one fitting end over, flare the end out, and do the same on the end being applied to the front, and so on... you probably understand where i'm going with this, but if not, just ask, and i can clarify. but make sure it's brake line...

Or just take it to a brake shop cause it will be cheaper than buying one from Ford.

I agree with Mark V.
they do have 2 different flared fitting on them.
Compression fittings are NOT made for braking.
While you are at it just replace all the lines.
If you are going to keep the truck fix them all.

First of all, compression fittings are against the law in most states. What Jonzo described is an ordinary double flare fitting into a coupler block. This is legal. To replace the line is not a hard job.A saturday job at most.I did my old 90 ranger in a couple of hours. To replace the original line in the original place would require droping the gas tank as the line is held in by metal tabs bent over the line .This is more than likely where the line rotted.I ran my line fron the inside of the frame rail about under the drivers seat out a slot in the frame to the outer side of the frame for ease of assembly.I use small metal cablehold downs available at any home depot or hardware store to secure the line to the frame.Once beyound the gas tank there is another opening in the frame rail,This is where you would bring in back to the inside of the frame rail.A simple tubing bender or an old ebrake cable placed inside the brake line to prevent wall collaspe. If it's your first time doing doudle flares,I would practice on an old piece of line to you feel comfortable getting the flares even and centered. It's not rocket science to replace.and will save you some money especially in this down economy.

You can get a tube bender for brake lines, a double flare tool, and an ISO flare tool (generally for ABS brake systems), brake tubing, and fittings at your local parts store, or at Eastwoods on line. Use your old line as a pattern for bending the new line. As mentioned above it takes practice to get good flares and good bends. Oh, you will need a tubing cutter also. Goood flares depend upon good square cuts, and debur the cuts. Ditto on the above advice, that is replace all of the lines if they are rusted like the one that "popped".
