need help i have a 79 lincoln

and want to know about the front end alignment does the 2 bolts on the top "A" frame can you weigh them in order to casber canber in and out ????since the bolts face up when the older cars faced side to side

Hopefully, a front-end alignment expert will chime in here, but to set the camber and caster quickly and easily on your car, a tool that looks like a small letter "h" will be needed to bring the "A" frame in and out to put it in spec. This tool actually pulls the "A" frame in and out and then a big breaker bar with an extension and socket is then used to tighten these two bolts. I'm running out of time right now, but if I can get a part number for this tool, I'll post it tomorrow.
On a lot of cars where the bolts face horizontal, you need to put in shims of different thicknesses to adjust caster and camber.

Here's a typical photo of the upper control arm and shims. Add or remove shims for alignment.
