EcoBoost I-4 or 3.5L V6?

I would like to get an opinion from someone in the know. I'm waiting for the Ford Explorer to come out in November, and I want to know what you think would be the better engine to go with, the ecoboost I-4, or the 3.5 V6 Duratec engine? I keep my vehicles for many years and put a lot of miles on the engines before I purchase a new one. If you were getting this vehicle, which engine would you want?

my vote goes to an option that isn't there.
5.0L, V8

the D35- duratec 3.5 was the base for the eco-boost V6, so they can just put the SHO ecoboost V6 into the exploder

I wish that engine was going to be an option, but for the 2011 they only give you the two choices: The I-4 Ecoboost engine, or the standard 3.5 V6 Duratec. Maybe in 2012 they will offer the V6 Ecoboost engine.

I would go with the v-6
I just don't like 4 cylinders when you tend to overwork time

The I-4 EcoBoost is supposed to put out 230 hp where the 3.5 V6 is supposed to put out 290 hp. The strange thing is the smaller engine will cost you more.

almost like the turbo 4 that was in the fairmont's. it had 10 more hp than the 351W of the same year, but because of the turbo, it had worse fuel economy than a 460

So you would go with the 3.5 V6 290 hp standard engine?

i would. this may sound weird, but the bigger engine would be better on fuel.
the v6 would use less of it's power moving the truck, so your foot won't be down as far to get it moving, thus burning less fuel...
not sure if it really does happen that way, but it sure seems like it when i drop bigger engines into cars...

Why do you suppose the smaller 4 cylinder engine will cost more? Is it because the EcoBoost engine is new and Ford is pushing for that engine? Like I said, the I-4 EcoBoost will have 230 hp where the Duratec V6 will have 290 hp.

It costs more because of all the new technology put into it.
