Headlight Problem

I am working on a 2000 E-350 XL Super Duty Van 5.4 Ltr. Auto trans/w AC. When you put on the high beams the headlights go out nothing,no high beams or low beams. When the high beams are not engaged the headlights work ok. I was wondering if it is the switch on the steering colum , or the bulbs. Thanks for any help on this one..

There is a 15 amp fuse in the central junction box. You must check the fuse with the high beams in the on position. This fuse also powers the high beam indicator in the instrument cluster. It is fuse 30 all the way left second from bottom.
