06 Taurus SEL has my head aching
Ok so here I am again, with yet another question reguarding the week long annoyance that is my car.(just in case you havent read my latest 2posts reguarding the issues my car has been experiencing, I will be posting quotes of those posts on this thread to avoid any confusion) UPDATE: Car started acting up 2 wks ago and threw code P0353 I took it to a shop on Sat to have my coil pack, and Plug WIres(in attempt to stop the bogging down and awful shuttering) replaced. The car ran fine after replacing the coil pack, and wires, (w/ slight hesitation during faster acceleration &also on inclines), still check engine light remained on, I was just hoping it would go off after 2 drive cycles as the manual states that it will. Mon. I took to be hooked to a code reader again, just to be sure, and this time car threw 2 codes P0353(same) & P0303(misfire detected cylinder3).......As off last night (WED) It was still on, & I was still worried, I then noticed while taking my daughter to church that my fuel had dropped considerably. In a span of no more than 15 mi.. (15-20min) mt fuel gauge needle had gone from 1/2tnk reading 181mte, to just above 1/4tnk reading 142mte. Called my brother who is pretty good with cars and he said change the spark plugs. I plan on doing so just as soon as I am able, but in the meantime, I go start my car this morning," WHAT THE DEUCE" the light has gone off, it hasnt come on all-day which is great, but has me wondering. What about the detected misfire? Would the light go out if the problems still there? Oh lord my head hurts: I apologize if I got too wordy, I just wanna be thorough, English Prof. says I think too much. LOL

-------------------First/Original thread reguarding my cars issue(s)-----------------
I have a 2006 Taurus SEL V-6 3.0L with aprox, 68000 mi. on it. Bout a week ago it started to bog down at times and sputter if rapid acceleration were applied. I tried to take it on the highway, and it would sputter pretty bad between 55-65 mph. On inclines it felt as though the car just didnt have any kind of "get up -N -go", acceleration was obviously lacking. The next day my service engine light illuminated so I took it to AutoZone for a code hook-up; codes were all generally connected. It read 3, which were Ignition Coil (Coil Pack), Spark plugs, or Spark Plug wires. So I took my car to the shop they changed the wires(#6 wire was damaged) and the coil pack(which was also damaged.)Its been a day since the repair (Service Engine Soon is still illuminated although have read it could take 2 drive cycles to go off?) and my car runs alot better now (even though my boyfriend says its just me and that I stress too much), in my opinion car is not running quite like it was and just doesnt feel right. The shiftling feels different to me (maybe the timing was affected????) and I notice what seems like rattlingevery now and then, idk, maybe its just that I am stressing & paying more attention to ever little thing. But for example, yesterday I took my car on the highway to test it and noticed that while I was doing 75-80mph the rpms hovered at between 2700-2900 (which seems a little high to me), but I am not that mechanically inclined ;-). Some good opinions would be nice cause it cost 300 for the most recent maitenence on the car and I know a diagnostics hook up isnt gonna be much cheaper. HELP
-----------------------#2:UPDATED POST ON CAR AFTER 2ND HOOKUP-----------------------
Ok the car is now reading off 2 codes. P0353 (which was the initial code listing from primary hookup), & P0303. I've already replaced the coil pack and spark plug wires (which stopped the bogging down & shuttering), so to now have 2 codes read off is really frusturating. One code says that a misfire has been detected in the 3rd cylinder. Both codes do have one common factor (that I havent already replaced) and thats spark plugs. What are the chances that it is that simple???? :-/

this might sound really strange, but it has been my experience, aswell as many others i have talked to, but ford's seem to fix themselves over time. It's hard to explain, but 9/10 times it works...

I'm a bit surprised that they returned the car to you with the CEL still on.

You were hoping that the light would go out after the repair, and it did. So here I am scratching my head.
OTOH... if your brother suggests that you change the plugs, that sounds like good advice to me.
Oh... by the way.. should I close your other two threads?
