If the IDM had water damage the PCM did as well. Is this the same van that I tried directing Dartmoor Billy towards the PCM a while back? Go over all I said back then and recheck. Check for wait to start light, Check for glow plug operation. And I don't mean does the light come on. I mean does the system work and do the heaters heat. Make sure you have a minimum of 10V at the fuel relay while cranking.

Hi Canuck623.

Yes it is the same van Dartmoor Billy is my son and he has done all the work on for me as I cant get around it so easy nowadays, getting to old, I have been out to the van today and tried to start it. it is firering but will not start, haveing put in a crank sensor and a IDM, we were told by Rock Auto that it should start with no problem, but not sure if it needs setting up.

If it is firing but not running you very well could have a glow plug issue. If I remember it's a late 90's van. On the top of the engine on the right side of the fuel filter there will be either 1 or 2 relays. They look a little like starter solenoids but they are not. You should have 12 volts to one side of the large terminals with the key off and when you turn the key to run it should click and show voltage on the other large terminal. If it has none then you need the solenoid. If it does click and shows voltage then you have a problem with the circuit that runs to the glow plugs or the plugs themselves are bad. If it has no voltage take a large wire and jump the terminals for about 20 seconds. It will spark when you touch it but hold it tight. After 20 seconds or so take it off and see if it starts.
