Our e350 split door is having problems. The door will be shut tight as we leave. Once we start to drive it will "pop" and the top portion of the door will release. From then on the door will jiggle. The part that is releasing is the "40" portion of 60/40 door.
We took it to a repair shop and they couldn't reproduce it nor fix it. The nearest Ford dealer is 45 minutes away so we're hoping to fix this without taking it there (and potentially being without a family vehicle).

My husband has tried to adjust the door himself and it hasn't worked. Any help would be appreciated.

VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: UTILITY VANS EQUIPPED WITH THE "60/40" HINGED SIDE CARGO DOORS. THE STRIKERS FOR THE 60/40 DOOR SINGLE LATCH SYSTEM WERE FOUND TO CONTAIN STRESS CRACKS AT THE STRIKER WIRE LOWER STAKE JOINT. STRIKERS WITH STRESS CRACKS MAY NOT MEET THE REQUIREMENTS OF FMVSS NO. 206, "DOOR LOCKS AND DOOR RETENTION COMPONENTS."
Defect Consequence:
IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH, THE DOOR STRIKERS MAY NOT HOLD THE DOOR, INCREASING THE RISK OF PERSONAL INJURY OR PROPERTY DAMAGE.
Remedy:
DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE DOOR STRIKER.
