paint restoration

I recently bought a '95 probe(red). While the doors and side body panels look good, the hood, roof, and hatch are faded badly. I have seen other fords of this year with the same problem (especially the red) Was this a common issue because of an inferior job at the factory, or is it just the natural results from exposure? What is the best way to restore the finish. It looks GREAT when it's wet, but very dull when dry.

Thanks for any suggestions!

Try picking up some Meguiar's Ultimate Compound at like OReilly's etc, and try applying similar to wax. However, it may require a machine polishing.

Thanks for the info, I did a "quick" job with some turtle wax polishing compound I had, with their cheap buffer as a test. Had some improvement, so I will be investing in a higher quality polisher in the near future, and use the higher grade compound.

Get some TR3 and follow the directions meticulously on the can and on their web site for extra tips.
Next day, ive the paint a plain water wipe down and then use your favorite wax.
Works well when the clear coat is shot with less effort.
