a/c condensation leaking into the van...

1983 e150 302/5.0

I recently replaced drier and converted the system to R134, the a/c barely worked previously.
now, the a/c works great, however, there is quite abit of condensation leaking into the van from under the right side of the dash area where the condenser area (above the blower motor) is.

I assume there is a blocked drain, but i could not visually locate one.
the leak seems to happen when i turn right as well, and again, i assume that it found another way out.
there is some dirt and debris coming from the same area.

I cant really pull anything apart as i need the van for work this week...but if anyone know where / a way i can locate and clean the drain without too much difficulty, it'd be appreciated.

I agree that you have a blocked drain tube. I suspect that it would come out of the firewall, electro would know for sure.

IN the mean time you might throw a heavy absorbent towel on the floor above the mats to absorb the condensate, so that your carpets don't get moldy.

It looks to me that the evaporator drain stub actually has (or did have) a hose on it. According to my repair information, the drain stub should be located under the hood, directly under the heater/evaporator chamber. A plugged condensate drain is very likely after 27 years. From under the vehicle, locate and clear the drain. Open it using something soft, maybe made of plastic, but not metal.

resolved

Finally got some time to play with the van, was able to locate what i call a burp valve under the condenser housing (a 3 inch long x 1 inch wide rubber tube that is narrowed to a flat end)...anyways, was able to grab a hold of this by reaching under and feeling around, ir was packed with grit/dirt, pine needles and god knows what else....as i was attemping to clear/clean i accidentally pulled it off the housing as it was brittle, but the good news is residual water rushed out, flushing out the rest of the dirt and now i no longer have the water leaking in.

thanks again for the input
Sal
