My escape just developed a clicking sound in either the cluster or the steering column when I depress the brake pedal. Brake lights work and car goes into gear. I thought it was the switch but that is not where the sound is coming from, is there another relay or something behind the dash?

Also there was thread on here about replacement of the shift indicator bulb for same car. Does anyone know where it went?

There's a solenoid that prevents one from shifting out of Park unless your foot is on the brake and that is probably what your hearing. Some have had a problem with dealers fixing this issue, saying that it's normal but if it didn't happen from day one, how can that be normal???
