Hello All,

I recently acquired a 2004 Ford Escape with an engine that has a 3 inch hole in the side of the block.

Having done an engine swap before this does not scare me, but I was wondering if it was possible to change out the normal 3.0 Liter for the 3.5 from the Edge.

Looking at the pictures they seem to be pretty close in size and the motor mounds seem to be in the same general location.

Does any one know if this can be done? Any thoughts as to what troubles I might run into? Can someone provide the schematics for these engines so I can see what differences there are?

My main concerns are the transmission not mating up, not being enough clearance in the front for the huge down pipe, and how the PCM will work.

Not even close. They may have a similar look but when you really look at them and compare you will see. The electronics would be different. Everything. Maybe if you swaped out the entire drive train and all the electronics it might run but then you might as well buy a used Edge.
