I went to an online Ford catalouge and the linkage in there is a maze.
I couldn't copy a picture of it.
The inside handle or linkage may be loose or binding.
You might try going to a genuine Ford parts site fill in your make model and year and select rear door
and then inside handle and it will show you a photo of it.

I would think then, that you may need to remove the Left Rear Door Trim Panel to find out what the actual problem is.

I am attaching the Re & Re Procedure for the Rear Door Trim Panel, along with the Interior Rear Door Handle, for you.

Hope this helps.
