Dang

So I wanted to get my windshield fixed. It's always been cracked. I called my insurance today and made the mistake of telling them it's always been there. So, apparently, they won't cover it. That's what I get for being honest...

Anyone know what I can expect to pay to get it fixed?

A couple of months ago, I had the windshield on my daughter's Mustang repaired by Safelite. I had him repair it at my shop, the guy had to drive 90 minutes one way and the total repair was something like $240.
A quick check for a Ford Fairmont says it will be close to $210. Your make and model might be different and, of course, disposal fees and taxes will make the final amount higher.
I suppose somebody will next post and say that Safelite glass sux, but the glass that they put in my daughter's car was top notch, had the rear view mirror tab already installed, and the guy was very courteous.
They have a cost guesstimate on their web site. You might want to check 'em out.
My $.02 worth.

Well, that's not bad at all. I was worried it might be like $1000. I had no ballpark idea.

Aparrently the cost of a windshield can vary significantly from one shop to another. I forget what the numbers were, but a friend of mine did some calling around when he needed one and found a local shop that was significantly lower than the rest. Later that year, I needed a windshield for the windstar, and I got it there. Unfortunately, I wished that it was the windshield on my Crown Vic that broke (because it was starting to show its age with little pitting marks, and wiper streaks) It would be nice to have a new one with no marks. Within a week of the replacement of the windstar, the one on the crown vic broke. In fact I think that I dropped one car off while I picked the other up.

Since then, I've been a little more careful about what I wish for.
