it's easy to do, but on the other hand, if you go in too far, or sit in one spot too long, it's also easy to F-up...

if you want to do just a clean up job, just match up all the holes and smooth away rough edges, if you are really looking for a gain in performance, i would suggest taking it to a professional. better safe than sorry! either way, which ever route you decide to go be careful, and good luck!

tr...I looked at the website you provided as a basis for your own DIY project on your newly aquired e7te heads. First of all, this guy is an experimenter. He's trying this and trying that and from what I saw he's a hack. By the time you go out and buy all the toys he suggest, you could have had a professional do the job and done right the first time.Casting heads is is bases off of a mold.As the mold wears the cast object dimensions change. So head # 1 and #999 are not quite the same dimensionally. He has decided not to add dimensions for material removal because someone blew out a sparkplug and he cut into his own water jacket.
I've put a few motors together in my day at considerably more money than your spending, and I don't do my own headwork.Leave it to the experts. After all thats why their experts.
p/s do you think the experts would use plumbers putty in place of a spark plug.

i appreciate your feedback and i do understand where u are coming from. i got a good laugh at his methods but i figured that he was just like me and he may have saved me lots of screw ups. i realize the methods he used were begginer type things but thats what i am. lol im just trying to help my motor out not get the best possible job.
after all the experts had to get experience, the guy even says he experimenting.
my best argument is that the old hot rodders did everything themselves. in the spirit of just going faster im doing it all myself.

hey im working at them i got the intakes all done, working on the second heads exh ports and bowls, i decided on not getting valve guides put in, they should be all right for a while yet some are pretty wore but they will be ok. its pretty un-nerving to dig into those bowls for the first time but im betting its worth it, heck even just doing it is good experience no matter what the outcome. do you know if they had upgraded valve springs?

Not sure man, the guy I got them from never mentioned it, so I'm thinkin they are still stock. He would have told me otherwise.
