Left rear door handle cable end comes loose

On 2003 Ford Ranger XLT Edge (extended cab, with the 'rear half door'), the left rear door handle is only visible when the front door is open. There is a cable that is operated by the release handle. The cable end is a cylindrical plug. This cable end keeps coming out of its hole in the release handle, rendering the door not openable from the handle.

Is this a common problem on this truck?

Do any of you know of a 'fix' so the cable end will stay in it's attachment hole of the handle?

Hey there Keith20mm,

I am attaching TSB 03-20-4 for your reference. I understand that it applies to 2004 F-150's, however, having read your description of your problem, I am thinking that the Spring Clip (4L3Z-1521952-AA) used to retain the cable to the door latch handle bezel, may be what you are needing. Just a thought...
