I did it in a '96 Tbird last year. RTFM: Read The Manual. They are usually available on ebay.

Yes the best thing is a Manual, I use them for all big repairs. In the past I have damaged parts by not using them. Eventually you will get more use out of one than you can think of.

I also have a nice Library of old Service manuals now, I keep them all because someday I may get another of the same car!

Come to think of it, I bought that Tbird with bad ignition, didn't have a book yet, and used my 2002 Windstar manual for guidance on how to replace it.
