Speak Now Or Forever Hold Your Peace...

You know when I said my goodbyes I meant them and I honestly had no real intention of coming back onto this Forum again. That still holds true. However, I’m just not the type to sit idly by and say or do nothing when an injustice has been done. And with each day that has passed, I hoped that the right thing would have been done and the wrong done here would have been set straight.

Yet still it hasn’t, so I am back to say my peace.

Perhaps, it is a character flaw, perhaps, it is a case of seeing things as I am and not as they are, or just perhaps, I really am the only one troubled by this. All I do know, is that I can no longer turn a blind eye to it, as everyone else seems to have done, because I do know the difference between right and wrong.

This truly was an awesome Forum at one time, but that time has long since passed. What is happening here now is if anything “sandbox” mentality. I thought I was participating with adults and professionals, but obviously I was MissTaken. And you Poppy are the worst offender.

Sure what the new owner did was wrong, giving himself 3000 reputation points without earning them.

SO WHAT!

Two wrongs do NOT make a right!

HE NOW OWNS Ford Forums Online and if he wants to be a prat, or feels the need to show us all that he’s got the biggest deck and glorify himself into being the BMOC (Big Man On Campus) with his bogus Reputation point – So Freakin’ What?

But to watch this exact same stunt be pulled by YOU of all people Poppy, by bumping up both Canuck623’s and Boghog’s reputation points by 2000, without either of them honestly or actually earning them, in order to what? Taunt the new Owner? Keep them on at the Forum? Is nothing less than.....

Well to be perfectly honest, it’s nothing less than something that the Godfather/Viper would do.

Yeah, you read that correctly!

You have not only cheapened yourself and the Forum in my eyes, but have lost any and all respect I had for you. Not only did you NOT consider the worth or the value of each and every other member of FFO, that freely and willingly gives of themselves to help out here, but you have clearly disgraced yourself and the Forum, violated the integrity and trustworthiness of yourself and this Forum and most certainly have made a mockery of the Reputation system, in my opinion.

Actions have consequences Poppy. This is something I have to tell my children, not something I should be having to tell someone older than myself.

In all truthfulness I didn’t help others to get MY Thanks button clicked and move up the ladder, it made no Jimmy Joe difference to me.

Personally, I have felt for sometime that the Reputation’s have been based more upon favoritism than on actually helpfulness and I’m not sure which of the two put where I am today. Tho, I would like to believe it was the latter and not the former.

NO Poppy, my reward in helping others, out of an actually want and willingness to do so on my part, was just that. Knowing that I, personally had in some small way, truly helped someone in need.

Poppy you are here to moderate NOT to dictate member’s Reputations. What you did by altering or rigging their Reputation points was not only wrong and deceitful, because a single lie destroys the whole reputation of integrity, but disrespectful to every other member. And although YOU may be able to justify your actions it in your mind, the end will never justify the means, because a pat on the back is only a few inches away from a kick in the ass.

I had always looked at the reputation points and really never paid much attention to them. I will freely admit that I don't turn wrenches for a living and I try to stand back (sometimes unsuccessfully) when I'm unsure on giving advice. Your post clears things up for me. Thanks for the explanation.
I wonder how long it will be before this thread goes POOF?

I typed my rant on here 5 times and deleted it 5 times for fear of being banned from using the internet ever again. I totally agree with what my cohort from the Great White North is saying. Take a look around, where are Doc and Cuda. They had enough of all the bullshit. Now Miss. I'll be next, then Canuck will follow. Then you'll have the blind leading the blind.

I don't give a rats ass about credits and reputation, you can't buy buy them you have to earn them, and Miss has most definetely earned hers.

What this site has done to her is reprehensible and I'm ashamed to be called a member.

So Joe maybe you can put these rants on your chiropractors table and work the kinks out (spin it your way) but at the end of the day your just another spin doctor like Obama, all talk and full of crap.

Maybe if you offer up your resignation and leave with the rest of your puppets, this place can grow again.

Well I think I'm out a here too, Suz,I'll miss our late nite chats and all the goofing we used to do. I'll miss you like my children, and hope someday we can ride together again.

Boghog out.

Great rant. I didn't agree with what was done to the reputation points either and I nor Bog asked for it to be done. All I thought should have been done was let those that had earned their points keep them and make the new owner earn his rep like we all did. I wrote Poppy about the new dude on top and asked if maybe the site had been hacked by someone. Like back on the old forum with the Godfather. I said that like you I was considering heading out the back door, and still am but old habits die hard, because the forum seemed to be devolving into amateur hour more and more. My thoughts had nothing to do with points or reputation. Like you I enjoyed imparting some helpful wisdom now and then. I was getting tired of never hearing back from folks I had helped, leaving me wonder if what I had said was right wrong or even read in the first place. When Joe, Poppy phoned me to tell me what he had done I just said that it would probably piss some people off and that it didn't matter as long as the site was secure still. The part that really ticks me off is all the Google addsense words that get inserted into the posts. I know it is a source of big income for the owner but it is such a piss off trying to read a post now. Anyway hope to hear from you now and then. You have my email. Later Miss.

I hope that all of you knowledgeable people don't leave. I know there are a lot of folks that get onto forums and grab what they can and never post back until they have another problem, that's people. But the few that post back and say thanks is worth all the time you spend on here. I have read a lot of fixes that didn't apply to me but I was able to pass the info on later to others. I beg you guys to hang in there you have a value that can't be measured by $.
A big thanks to each and every one of you!!!!!!!

I been against the reputation marks since they started. I got in long arguments about them and I knew they would end up doing more damage than good.

I still am against them and I think they should be removed.

As you can see now what the reputation level has done to our members.

I always thought the people here who knew what they were doing would get the credit just by researching their posts and word of mouth on the forum.

I rarely use the thanks button unless I truly feel it is earned.

Oh and I do want to say Poppy is a good Moderator and has done a lot for the forum with Banning and researching spammers. He also has been good at catching spam embedded in threads and does contact me with PM's about repeat offenders.

None of us are perfect here so please give him another chance and let him show you what he can do.

I did not post this thread lightly.

The intention behind this thread was about Accountability and Integrity.

Not only that of Ford Forums Online, but also that of Poppy.

The intention behind this thread at NO point in time was EVER intended or meant to be or to become a personal attack or a “witch hunt” on Poppy, let alone call for his resignation as a Forum Moderator.

I do apologize to you Poppy and to every member at Ford Forums Online for that, those are NOT MY words, nor are those MY feelings.

The intention behind this thread was about Accountability. Just as I am Accountable for my own actions within this Forum, and for that matter, this thread, as it was my decision to post it, Poppy is Accountable for his actions within this Forum, as it was his decision to change those numbers willy nilly. However, I do not believe that he should resign, nor that he is not a good Moderator.

The intention behind this thread was about Integrity. Just as I am a Member of this Forum, I am also a Representative of the Integrity of this Forum. Sadly, that (the Integrity of this Forum) is something that I have watched slowly slip away these past few month.

I had great respect for Poppy, however when he did not right his wrong, after having been given ample time and encouragement to do so, it was, in my opinion, that he, as a Moderator and a Representative of the Integrity of this Forum, profoundly damaged, not only the fragile Integrity and Credibility remaining at this Forum, but also that of himself.

I’m sorry Poppy; you broke my faith and my trust in you.

I too, hope that both Canuck and Bog will reconsider their decision to leave the Forum and stay, you too Roy, as I truly believe that these gentlemen are indeed a very valuable asset to an already exceptional ensemble of extremely talented and knowledgeable members at Ford Forums Online.

Although I have not been informed by anyone on the inside, one of our members sent me information that our site has been sold to pthomson87 Ford Forums Online - Ford Discussion & Enthusiast Forum - View Profile: pthomson87

FYI... I have not had any communications from our new owner, and before you all ask for or demand my resignation, I may be leaving too.

I don't feel like defending my actions, but I'll give it a half hearted attempt.

Maybe I missinterpreted what Canuck623 said or wrote to me, but it seemed that he was so ticked at the new owner for giving himself unearned reputation points that I was afraid that Canuck623 was going to leave the forum. If you all don't know it, I hold his advise above all others. He often is the only one that comments on those far out issues (the ones that few actually know the answer). In my mind, the loss of his input would be a terrible loss to the forum community. He also suggested that BogHog may not be posting anymore because of the reputation.

I wrote to robdog, and pthomson87 about the unearned reputation points, and got no answer. I am not happy about that. So after my communications with Canuck, I decided to go in and remove the unearned points that pthomson87 gave himself. I'd deal with the flack from the new boss. First because I think that what pthomson87 did was wrong, AND for the good of the members of the forum, I want Canuck to continue participate. Well... I am only a supermod, not an administrator, and I can not affect any changes to the new owner's reputation. I unilaterally decided to put both Canuck623 and BogHog above the reputation of pthomson, where they belong, because they ahve earned it. Yes I knew that would be UNFAIR to everyone else, but if moving their reputation above pthomson87 would keep them onboard until I could get some communication going with the new boss, then it was the only fix I could do that would have an immediate impact.

The reason that there was a delay to my commenting in this thread is because I am a bit overwhelmed. For the past 8 weeks, I have been running my two businesses, and helping a friend, who recently had bypass surgery, hold his three businesses together until he can get back into the saddle.

Immediately after submitting this post, I will reduce both BogHog's and Canuck623's reputation by the 2000 points that I erred in giving them.

Remember... I don't get paid enough to get publicly chastised, or to have my integrity questioned. Keep it up, and this site will have one less moderator.

Well, I feel my rep power is a bit off......

I never gave a rats ass about the rep power......in the end, what does it get me ? A new car, a new house, a better job, a shinny new avatar, cash, power to crush you , a big head, a new set of wheels, .........
Probly not, I know I cant help everyone. I do help with what I do know, and if anyone agrees ...great, disagree with my help.....who cares, I move on just like many others.
I find this a great place to share knowledge, info, pictures, smiles, laughter, and I have met many great new friends here.
If this site goes to shit ! I will find another....as I did many years ago. I found this site (actually the old web site) and dropped a few kind words and answered a few questions.....and now the Fairmont forum is one of the most active sites .....Weird, Fairmonts so popular and so little focus on finding the links to the forum.
I may not add much to the web site over all, but I sure like to think I helped keep it active even in the little dusty corner I take care of.
If many of you who leave, or have left that where a huge help over all, I will miss ya and I understand.....I hope to catch you on the flip side some where on this wide word of web !

I know for sure all of you have provided suggestions if not direct solutions to any problem I've ever raised and for that I would like to thank each and everyone of you. Hell even went as far as to invite me into your homes.

If it had not been for you guys, I may have very well spent a lot more in repairs over the past few years.

To those considering leaving, I would like to ask you to reconsider, because what's going to happen to the putz' like me when you're all gone? Sure my mechanic will be happy, my wallet not so much.

Like I said before. I didn't ask for the rep points. My concern was that the site had been found by someone that put himself above everyone else that had worked so hard for Ford Forums in the past. I don't know how they work and don't really care. I will continue to drop in here from time to time but I will be picking my topics carefully. Like the guest thread there are very few here that respect what we try and do. Those that do respect it can be counted in this thread and in the top 20 on the rep points.

Guys take a break if you need to but don't let a hand full of people ruin things for you and those of us that do appreciate all of your advice and info. You are going to find these people no matter where you are ( forums, at work, or neighbors ) they take and they take until there is no more to take and never say thanks and then bitch because there is no more.

Just my 2 cents............Pecos

I hope the new owner(s) don't look at this forum as only a source of revenue. That's exactly what happened at the forum I'm with now. In their eyes its all about the ads and how many clicks they get. They've forgotten what a self help for is all about. And whats worse, I'm a administrator and can't do a thing about it.

Sadly that is exactly what this forum is now used for. Generate money. The new owner paid far more than a site like this is worth but the potential with the adds, Google adsense words and the click through affiliate marketing could turn it into a gold mine for one person at least.

I love this site, but those damn addsense words annoy the crap out of me. Seems these days all I stop in for is to check up on my fellow F/Z nuts anyway. And when I do venture into other areas of this site, I also choose wisely as to which topics I reply to. I, like others have been here since the sites inception and would hate to see this site go the way of the other. Oh, and I don't give a rats ass about the rep system either

65 falcon is on a distinguished road
Whoa whoa whoa man everyone's leaving?!? Wtf man.
Now I know I'm not on the site regularly but I do try to get in and look around. But look I'm 20 years old am juggling college and work full time, and it's a bitch man. And the truth is that is seriously te easy part right now. I also have three cars that only mostly work between them al. I need to magically pull out parts from my butt hole to fix them all. New heads finding a magically disappearing fuse box and basically a custom fab job to hook up a damn tranny. But everytime I got frustrated and overwhelmed I could comehere and talk to the pros on this sit. Everybody who has posted here has posted something a thread I have had up where I didn't know what the f*ck I was doing, if I offended anyone with that than I am sorry but the truth is I have no f*cking clue what I'm doing have... Well all the time. And if everyone important leaves than I will too and I guess I'll just pay Out the ass for repairs.

But I remember when on the old site when it got hacked, I had just finished my very first threa, and I followed that 302 falcon conversion post religiously and some jackass desides to hack the site and start deleting stuff.

So big hog I was the first one to post a problem in the ranger section still sorry to have ruined your day and you helped shead some light onto the first problem I was having, unfortunately it came back 6 months later, but hell it fixed it once and if I remember correctly Miss you contributed to the solution too.

Rep points are a bunch of crap and are useles, I don't have any and I don't care, but those who EARNED them deserve them. I know my opinion doesn't mean sh*t as a junior member and I have no freakin clue what a moderator really does on forum sites or why there have to be names like that and administrators or what ever the f they are. I knew the names of the people posting on my threads to help me not their titles.

If you guys leave, well thank you from me and all the guests and other junior members you have helped in the past, and if you desire to stay than thank you all for what the help you will provide for us in the future.
