Sounds like it could be a blend door issue, this topic has been discussed many times before.

Most likely a vacuum leak.
When there is a vacuum leak they default to defrost.
You may look at this thread, for some information.

Thanks Joe, I didn't even think vacuum leak for some reason earlier, stupid Benadryl..
