hi! im glad to join!!blower motor&wipers 96 taurus
hi!! glad to be part of the forum!!
please help.96 taurus wiper & blower motor giving me trouble for a long time!
the wipers work perfectly but go on &off as they please.
the ac also blows cold on all speeds but goes on &off .
i was told it was a chip so i changed ccrm.both the a/c and the wipers started working after took out pcm and left it out for 20 minutes .the a/c blew &could not be shut off.
24 hours later they both would not work.
i let the pcm rest 20 minutes again & both worked again!
the wipers stopped again but the a/c is still working 24 hrs later
should i change the pcm( ecu)??
or check wires ,fuses,relays?which ones?
how? what do you think is wrong??
thank you so much
dov

How about checking the ground wire connections? Seems like you have power, but possibly the grounds are corroded.

Do you have a digital dash or digital temperature control?

If you don't have electronic automatic temperature control, it is definitely NOT PCM. I'd have to check but I think that if you had EATC it still wouldn't be pcm.
It sounds like poor quality connections.

Inpoirtant grounds are usually mounted on the left and the right upper radiator support, also you may look for one near the wiper motor. Certainly battery connections and cables at both ends should be examined and cleaned if needed.

2 mechanics said it was a chip and were going to charge $250 or300$to fix!!as you see from my post both wiper &blower do the same.i changed ccrm from salvage and was goingto change pcm but cant find one with the same #
one mechanic said its " the wires".but i really cant give him the car all day.my son fixes everything on the car,
and it was easy to change parts.not so sure howto check wires etc.
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ALL YOUR HELP!!!!

Would I be correct that the heater blower also goes on and off by itself?

While this diagram may not be specifically for your car, it is representative of many.
IF the blower is all the way on high, does the problem still exhist?
You might check G200 which I think is usually at the lower lip of the dash on the driver's side.

dont know if you got it fixed yet but sounds to me like alot of others say you got a bad or loose connection somewhere with ground wire.
