stuck on defrost. will not switch to vent.

i have a 1996 ford windstar and its stuck on defrost. the only way to get it to change to floor or panel is i have to reach under the dash and change it manually. got a new switch panel on the inside and nothing happens. any seggestions?

When you have a vacuum leak, it defaults to defrost.

see on mine i have heat and air working. just not switching to floor and stuff like that. Do you think i could have gotten a faulty control panel?

The switch that selects where you want the air to flow to is a vacuum switch, that could be faulty. One or more of the actuators may be bad, you may have a vacuum leak, or your vacuum line may be clogged. YOu have to take some things apart to find out where you have vacuum, and where you don't.
