2010 burnt electrical smell and a/c working sporadically

A/C has been blowing on high for about 6 months regardless of fan speed setting on controller. Temperature control works and vent selection works. Today there was a burnt electical smell and the speed began to waiver from high to low regardless of controls. Blower going out? Switch the original problem?

vfelix702,
I see that you are a bronco owner. Welcome aboard!

You seem to know your way around.
If the resistor went bad, would it allow current to flow? I don't know. I'm thinking from past posts of problems that a poster will state that it only works in high, not that it will work in high regardless of the switch position.

scoot,
what vehicle do you have?
Do you have electronic fan controls, or is it a knob that you turn?

Canyou vary the speed of the blower motor in HEAT mode? ( I'd bet no, but if you could, then it would point to the electronic controller)
