    Poppy,
Just posted my reply on the heater core. I admitted defeat and had a friend make the repairs. I didn't want to pull the dash and other items.

I hope it is an easy one to do.

    Poppy,
Thanks for the reply! I figured as much that the core might have a small leak developing but I was really hoping for something minor but alas, it isn't to be.

I'll let you know just how difficult it is when I get into it.

    Take care my friend!

Sorry if you didn't get any response. I saw the post, but didn't know how difficult it is to do on your car/truck.
The short answer is that if you smell antifreeze, you have a leak, and as you suspect, quite possibly the core.

If you tackle it, be sure to disconnect your battery cable so that there is no way that the passenger side air bag can be inadvertantly deployed.

    Poppy,

I posted a question under A/C & heating. I have an '05 Escape with an odor like anti-freeze coming from the dash vents. Usually when i apply heat and no and then with the A/C on. Am i looking at replacing the heater core? If so, how tough is it to get to? Would there be a cabin filter in there somewhere that could be gummed up?

I appreciate anything you can give on this.

    Thanks in advance!
