Yard Sale Find!
I drove by this yard sale sign and something told me to turn around so I did. I got to the end of the street and found the sale. When I walked up there was a cardboard sign on this car that said make offer. I walked around the car, opend the door and looked at the seats, turned around and made her an offer, she said yes and i now own a 56 Rambler American. At least that's what the title says butI think it may be a 58, doesn't matter it is cool and clean. Shit, forgot to upload photo's. Be right back.

I'll wager that it has a flat head six in it.

Here they are. We have since cleaned and waxed it. It cleaned up really nice. Yes it's a 195.6 cid 90hp. flathead. This is the Super model. Upgrades include passenger side sun visor, front ash tray and lighter, automatic dome light, arm rests, side mirror, trunk mat and floor mats. Supers also had back windows that rolled down 3 inches AND, the Flashomatic premium 3 speed transmission. $1000 was my offer and she jumped on it, should've offered $500. Hey, it was still a steal in my book.

That is a cool old car, unusual. The price was definitely right....great find!
I never stopped for garage sales, I assumed they were just unloading junk. Well, in 2008 my garage sale junky wife called me about a truck at one just down the street. OK, it's close I'll go take a look. Much to my surprise was the truck below for $625.
I replaced a rusted out 3rd door and rear bumper plus a few mechanical things to get running. I added the wheels and tires, a little elbow grease then gave it to my daughter in college.Yes, it's 4x4 too.

I have to start going to yard sales and ask questions.
My neighbor had the things on display nothing that I wanted.
So I asked her if she would happen to have a lcd puter monitor.
she went inside and sold me one for 10 bucks!

Love is being owned by a Siberian Husky or two.

Update, she runs. Had no fire so I cleaned the points and she fired. That little six is so quiet I can't believe it.

I don't do garage sales. My dad, loves them. You can often pick stuff up so cheaply, that you just have to get them, just in case you might need them some day. My dad end's up having garage sales just to make room for more stuff. LOL.. I already don't have room
Great finds... both of you.
My second car was a '64 Rambler with a flat head six. That was back in the day when many state highways were nothing more than a 2 lane road, and you had to cross over in the face of on-coming traffic in order to pass the guy in front of you. With that little engine, I had to watch for a break in traffic, and for a stretch of road where visibility permitted passsing, and then get up momentum before attempting to pass. Ha ha... definitely not a highway cruiser!
Had a lot of fun with that car though. One of the coolest things was that it had a fully reclining bench seat that made going to drive-in theaters more relaxing.

The airline reclining seats are something AMC marketed. THE car to have at lovers lane. Mine has them too. The seat backs are 70/30 too so when someone gets in the back seat from the passenger side they have plenty of room to climb in. The company also talks about the innovative unibody in this car and the safety of it. Maybe AMC invented the unibody? Your six was the same as mine. AMC was a struggling company so that powerplant was used for a while. They offered an OHV version in hte 60's but it was in there higher end productions.

I think it was a 232 straight six, that I had in my '71 Gremblin. This isn't a pic of mine, but that was a fun car to drive and own. A peppy six in a little car that they forgot to put a trunk on. I used to run that car from NJ to Georgia and back with a fuzz buster and CB radio in the late '70's. Who is that Yankee thoroughbred?
Hey Lip... thanks for the trip down memory lane!

The biggest thing I have found was some Craftsman tools. Nothing like buying a Lifetime warrantied tool for $1.00.
