Ok, I am looking to buy a new HD TV...
Its: 55" LED 3D 1080P 240HZ
Not important at the moment for what brand, but the optional extras the store offers when you purchase one.

They have a service protection plan that covers everything for 4 years = $400.00 some odd bucks.....Is it worth it ?
They also say you need to have the TV calibrated after the first 100 hrs. of use....costs $180.00 to have that done....Is this a must ?

I never heard of them needing to be calibrated after a short use and most of the problems these tv's have usually happen after 5 years. Usually its a bulb replacement issue.

So is it worth all this extra crap ?

That extended warrenty seems a bit expensive. I got a 3 year extended warranty and paid 100 bucks. Never heard of a tv needing calibration, sounds like a rip-off to me, but then, mines a plasma, LED tv's might be different.

I been looking into more....I have found out how to calibrate the tv myself....looks really easy. So thats no problem and as for the service plan....thinking its a waist of money.
So I think I have the answers I needed... Thanks any how !!!
