Hello all. I have a 2010 Escape XLT 2.5L 4 cyl. with a constant misfire reading in cylinders 1 and 3. I have changed the ignition coils (and subsequently replaced 2 boots due to oil in in cylinder at the suggestion of a mechanic), changed all spark plugs and replaced the gasket. The only move I haven't made thus far is replacing the wires, only because i cannot readily get my hands on the part.

I need suggestions as to what to do before checking into a mechanic at $80-150/hour for repairs.

    Welcome to the FFO!

You are dealing with a misfire. The reason for the misfire may not be ignition related and may be fuel related. As in vacuum leak. Or bad injectors however that isn't high on the list.

What gasket did you replace as stated above?
