    Morning all,

I am in the market for new tyres for my wagon, and hoping to go as wide as possible on the existing 14in wheels. They are date stamped as M5, (November 65 I believe) so under the assumption that they are factory original does anyone know how wide they are 5in or 6in? They all have rubber on them, so I can't measure them.

I have gone through several original brochures and buyers digests, and even the shop manual but it doesn't give the width of the wheel itself, all references are to tyre size.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers

    For painted stock steel wheels
    A 1966 Fairlane Stock unit had a 14 X 5 inch wheel (has a white paint daub)
    Except non-wagon 6 cylinder and 289 had 14 X 4.5 inch wheel
And GT had 14 X 5.5 inch wheels

Thanks Action! Mine have been painted, so I can't see if they have white daub or not, but they are stock I'm sure. Just so I read you right, the stock wagon 289 would have 5 inch?

    Cheers

The white daub would have been on the inside of the wheel if that helps.
    Yes 5"

Thanks again. I haven't look for it in the past. Will have to have a look next time.

    Cheers
