Action, sorry for the message. I have been trying to open a new thread but can't. All I get is "Enter a valid message" when I enter a title and click "POST". But there is no message box anywhere. What am I doing wrong? This is the only box that seems to work.

Got back from vacation. I picked up a cheap code reader to save me from trips to Autozone. The reader now says just "P0171 Too lean on bank 1". I assume bank 1 means cylinders 1-3. Bad injectors? Maybe an O2 sensor problem? Maybe the CPU just THINKS it's too lean and puts in too much fuel? How can I test the O2 sensor? Maybe swap front and rear to see if code changes? I am grasping at straws as you can tell...

I haven't seen another ltd the color of yours anywhere other than mine and my dads. His is identical to mine except it was a special edition with a blue top and blue and cream interior. I always thought my car was yellow until I read the plate in the door.

Maybe a 98 expy isn't a normal project truck, but I can just picture a version of grave digger here, and I'm starting with what I do best. Metal work. Tell me this is the wrong motor and put TV's in it instead. Just seems a waste of such a great turning radius on a 4x4

Thanks for the response. So my goal? I just had a "good " friend mechanic take my money and leave me with 4 broken manifold studs, 2 on each side, on the last exhaust port. I read that this problem happens alot to the 5.4. so I didn't want to reinstall an interior component. Cause there ain't nothin "easy" about "easy outs " in tight spaces.

Right out of college I worked for Ford Motor Company in the Parts and Service Division. Ended that relationship after 7 years and worked for 3 FLM dealerships for the next 5 years. Changed industries in 1993 to selling home loans (mortgages) in Arizona.
I currently own 8 cars, 4 are vintage. (Built before 1975) The other 4 are daily drivers for the rest of my household.
I am married with 3 only children that their birthdays span 2 decades.
I love Arizona and love to travel the planet. Mostly Asia and Africa as of late.
