HELP. I have an '04 F150 with the 4.6 that has 18k miles on it. I bought the truck new and for the most part it sits in my garage all winter and doesn't get used. I've had -0- problems with the truck until today. The last time the truck was run was about 2 months ago. Today I take it to work and 3 times it acted like it was starved for fuel and the red light on top of the dash started coming on and going off. When I left work this afternoon it started happening as soon as I pulled out of the parking space and got progressively worse that by the time I got to where I needed to go the truck won't stay running. It'll start fine but within a few seconds it starts to stumble and that light comes on and the truck will stall out. The light seems to blink out some kind of code but I can't tell what it is. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Well if the light is flashing,it's a sign of possible CATs overheating probably from excess fuel being dumped in the cyls.Looks like your driving about 3000 mile a year.I would questimate that maybe your injectors are starting to stick from stale fuel.Add a bottle of Techron to a full tank of fuel, and swing by an auto parts store like AutoZone or NAPA and have the codes read for an accurate description of what is actually happening with the CEL.We can support you further when we know why the CEL is on.

Also check fuel pressure at the rail. Including pressure bleed down time after engine is shut off. You could have injectors hanging. A bottle of Lucas injector cleaner wouldn't hurt. Running higher octane's will just make things worse. If you think the fuel might be stale of condensated, A can of Seafoam in the gas only, not in the oil.
