06 ford freestar the radio will not turn off when the van has been shut off and the door has been opened. I have to turn the radio off by pushing the button. Yet the clock still stays on. This is now draining the battery on a nightly basis.

Check the Battery saver relay. There was a post here with the same symptoms IIRC, I'll see if I can find it

Hey there Thebestb,

Quick question - do the windows also continue to get power? I ask because the power to the radio after the key is turned off is supplied from Accessory Delay Relay 1, which also powers all the windows as well. I am wondering if Accessory Delay Relay is stuck open and supplying constant power and not switching itself off. According to your owner's manual and the power distribution diagrams, the clock is supplied power via fuse 10 B+, which I am understanding to be direct battery feed, so that should not be what is causing the battery drain.

Have you checked the relay or fuses?

I would try replacing Relay 1 or swapping Relay 1 and Relay 2 to see what happens. If the problem moves to that which Relay 2 supplied power to, (which for the life of me I can’t recall at this moment in time) there’s your problem.

The link above is to obtain an owner's manual in the event you don't have one.

I am also including 3 power distribution diagrams specific to you 2006 Freestar.

Hope this helps.
