What are the original interior Side Panels constructed of for a 1963 Ford Falcon Sedan Delivery when new? I recently purchased this car and did not receive any Sedan Delivery interior side panels that are behind the Sedan Delivery steel panels. The interior is unfinished as well as the brakes. The engine was replaced with an unoriginal 250- 6 and a C-4 transmission (originally would have had a 170-6 and a Fordomatic 2-speed automatic. Exterior is painted White and the interior bench seat is Cream White with the Brown Steerhead inserts. I want to do this car with the interior and exterior looking stock when new. The car I believe came from Nebraska, I live in Minnesota. Thank You for your supportive answers. I do not have your answer. I could take some guesses as the interior panels may be of similar construction as the interior door panel construction. Finding a used replacement is not going to be easy. I did a quick search on the net and there are not many of these out there. The few I found had about the same condition of interior as yours.

You will likely have to have interior pieces made.

My suggestion, get an original sales brochure or other literature.
From there you will at least have pictures of patterns.

There will be a warranty plate with the serial number. May have an interior trim code as well.
The codes can be decoded with a shop manual

I believe the panels could be as simple as a painted fiber board material as used on the rear window deck on a Full Size early to mid 1960's Galaxie- (the area behind the seat and below the rear window glass), Someone has to have an original Low Mileage 1960-1963 Falcon Sedan Delivery with the originals in place. -Bob

That is likely a true statement.
Finding that someone may be a difficult task.

After looking at more of them on the web, I have yet to see one in unmodified stock condition.

These were built to use in business. So you may have the best low mileage original.

I gotta believe that you restore your copy to original stock condition, it would be rare and have some value.

I was told there are little over a thousand of the 1963 Ford Falcon Sedan Deliveries made including about 900 Standard models and around a 100 of the Deluxe models. My car is a Standard model without chrome trim around the rear window, chrome trim around the top and sides of the door windows, and no RH visor, RH door arm rest, or cigarette lighter. -Bob

Those Sedan Deliveries are indeed rare. So rare that Ray Miller did not include any in his pictorial essay book, "FALCON, The New Sized Ford" until 1965 model year. Even then he has no interior, cargo area photos. The text provided this scant bit of information:
"The Sedan Delivery was basically a 2-Door Wagon with the rear quarter windows eliminated by a solid body panel. Much of the body structure of that wagon can thus be seen in the sparse interior of the Sedan Delivery. The floor, unlike that of the similar Ranchero, is constructed of steel and weatherproof plywood with longitudinal steel skid strips"

The "Soft Trim" section of the Parts books has a drawing of the interior showing floor, quarter trim and attachments and the front door panels, too. I will send a photo of that along separately. The photo is not great, but it should give some info. Maybe Action can provide a better copy.

Thank You for your info. I have sales brochures for 1961, 1962, and 1963 Sedan Deliveries and still cannot identify the makeup of the panels. I have contacted SMS upholstery and Falconcometinteriors.com with my questions- no success. I recently bought the Steerhead Upholstery and standard door panels from FalconCometInteriors.com company. I would assume the floor infront of the bench seat is a rubber mat- no carpet. -Bob

I would expect those quarter panels to be painted cowl board; not upholstered with any covering.

Thank You for the 1963 Ford Falcon Sedan Delivery Soft trim Illustration page. The side panels appear to be quite simple in design and material. I wonder how many Sedan Deliveries have their original interiors including rear interior side panels? It appears the original front cab area had a rubber mat instead of carpeting. I would assume originals would have been black. Did the Deluxe Sedan Deliveries have carpeting or rubber mat? -Bob

Somewhere i read that the front area had a rubber mat. That may have been in the Falcon Trucks 1963 brochure. The interior color should be on the warranty plate. You can decode the numbers using the Factory Service manual, or post them here and someone will do it.
The Sedan Deliveries were work vehicles. From the factory, they had only the barest of trim in the package area; just enough to protect the packages. Given the intended service, and their low production numbers, i doubt that any original interiors survived. Yours may be the only one. If any of the original fasteners remain, you might find a scrap of the material under the head, but, at this point, I rather doubt it. Notice the difference between the front door panels and the rear compartment trim. Do you still have the original floor materials with the raised steel strips?

I have looked at a few of the above part numbers for interior pieces and all of them are black.

The base part number for the front floor covering (-13000-) either mat or carpet, only lists a mat for X body. (Falcon) And it is in only one color. BLACK

The correct one would have had a round head.

I will be looking at the side panel area for more info regarding makeup of the side panels. I do not believe any of the raised steel strips are there as well as attaching screws, maybe I will find something in the container with many screws, bolts, misc. small parts included with the car.
