Ford changed their bolt pattern in 1973 to 5 lug on 5" on all of their fullsize Fords, NOT 4.5" like before or later on. All fullsize Fords from 1973 to 1978 have the 5 inch bolt pattern so the typical Ford rims will not bolt up to those year fullsize Fords. They went back to the 5 on 4.5" bolt pattern when they downsized the LTD in 1979 and stayed with that pattern all the way thru 2013 on the Crown Vics and Grand Marquis'. So for any 78 Ford LTD you would need a 15" diameter x 6.5" wide or 15" x 7" wide wheel with a 5 hole on 5" bolt pattern. or you could go with anything bigger like a 16" or even all the way up to a 19" inch custom rim as long as it has the 5 on 5" bolt pattern.
