We have a '98 Escort ZX2 coupe in our shop and it needs rear struts.

The listings call these care out by model specifics: Equi & Tipico take one strut, the Hot & Cool coupes another.

How do I ID this little dude?

VIN is: 3FAFP1135WR161849

Just in case someone can decode it.

Welcome to the FFO!

Not sure I understand the question. The sub-model for that Escort is a ZX2 coupe. And you knew that already.

VIN Decoder

The first one that popped up on a search
Free VIN number decoder for any cars (vindecoder.net)

And that is a trim level. Not sure why a trim level would have much to do with suspension

That's pretty funny. That wasn't even one that popped up when I asked for a VIN decoder!

I even asked the program I have with our monster dealer at our shop to look up factory parts.

It has VIN attributes, but nada for this thing other than LX.....which it's not.

It's usually quite good.....I found out a sh*t ton about my '94 Chevy truck with it.

Again, thanks ever so much. Now I can get struts for this.....gem.

BTW, FWIW, I bought an 86 1/2 EXP Sport Coupe brand new and had it for about 80K.

Fabulous little car! Hammered the snot out of it, put rear struts and brakes all 'round at 40K and other than oil changes, nada.

It went great in the snow even with its fat little tires right up until it got to about ten inches deep and would pick the car off its wheels.

It weighed nothing!

Good times!
