    2000 ZX2 s/r manual tansmission. 140,000 miles.

Check engine soon light came on a couple weeks ago. The car ran fine, then suddenly became sluggish, did not respond to the accelerator being depressed, coasted/studdered to a stop and would not start. This is my sisters car, so of course she didnt take the 2 minutes out of her day to go to autozone and see what the light was on for. It certainly sounded like the fuel pump stopped working. I figured to start with seeing if it has fuel pressure, and proceeding from there hopefully replacing the fuel pump along the way. Any tips? what other problem areas are there for the fuel delivery besides the pump its self?

Timing belt!!! Your codes will probably be for the VCT system. Expensive fix.
