My '03 E150 is getting new rotors. I saw there is some scoring on the spindle bearing journals when I pulled the rotors. It seems odd that it is only around on the upper half, the underside is clean. Maybe from contamination? I should check the spindle diameters with the micrometer but I haven't got the specs. There not in the Haynes. Does anyone know these specs or where I might find them online? I just got the van registered and hope to get done for inspection soon. Thanks all and happy Labor Day.

The scoring looks like it is from incorrect tightening of wheel bearings. They were too loose and the inner race of the bearing spun on the spindle. The spindle looks reusable, however I would replace the bearings. And maybe you are getting new bearings with the new rotors.

The area the grease seal rides is not very clean. Neither is the rest of the spindle. Do clean that up including the area the caliper slides on.
