2005 Ford Freestar - rear air/heat not working

13537 Views 3 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  grog11
Hello - my Freestar's front air/heat works fine. When I turn on the rear air/heat, the fan will not blow. I can hear clicking sounds in the back driver's side when I alter the controls from front to rear controls then back again, and when the fan speed is increased or decreased. When I originally noticed the problem, we checked the fuses, but those are all fine. That was when I noticed the sounds from the rear. Any suggestions?

did you look in your owner's manual and see if there is a relay for the aux blower?
Here is a link to a photo of the '04 Freestar rear blower assembly area, after the inside trim has been removed. If you look at the lower left photo corner you see the blower motor assembly with a rectangular plastic box cover attached on the top side, under that plastic cover box, there is a relay assembly for the blower, your relay may be bad, sticking, or the blower motor may be dead. I would check the relays 1st.

The motor has some screws that hold the plate assembly on, and a rubber vent tube that can be pulled out for removal. Hope it helps, Good Luck!
