I know its a long shot but just as the title states. 2008 Escape V6 will shut off at speed. Driving along and RMPs start to slow and the engine dies. All the instrument cluster lights will come on. Starts back up and you're on your way. No code on the engine when this happens. So a given time frame would be it happened today, March 13 and the last time was January 27. Any help would be great!

As a guess, replace the fuel filter if it has not been replaced in the last year or so.

Update...Escape shut off again on March 16, so changed the fuel filter over the weekend. It was driven today and has shut off twice. Extra info, both times before the Escape shuts off they state it starts to "jerk" really bad around 40-50mph.
Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated!

When the filter was replaced, did any foreign pieces come out of the filter?

The data you gave helps. (Engine jerks at 40-50 mph then stalls) Does sound like a fuel issue.

Questions -
Any idea of how much fuel in the tank when the last stall took place?
Key on engine off can the fuel pump be heard?

I suspect an issue with the fuel pump driver module. .The Fuel Pump Driver Module controls the voltage delivered to a vehicle's fuel pump. The fuel pump varies the amount of pressure based on the amount of voltage.
The fuel pump driver module in the 2008 Ford Escape is mounted on the body under the back of the vehicle. It is located in the rear driver's side wheel well, behind the fuel tank

Inspect the module for external damage or dirt. It looks like the attached. These can get over heated and not function correctly. You might pull the connector and inspect and clean as needed.

Post back as to what you find.

About a 1/4 of a tank of fuel.
The fuel filter looked like it had never been change. The gas I poured out of the filter was brown.
Will go through the other suggests as soon as can, hopefully tonight.
Thanks again for your help.

Thanks for posting back. The brown kind of confirms my though process of the issue being fuel related.
At a 1/4 tank the fuel pump is picking up stuff at the bottom. Especially when the vehicle is moving and bouncing around that debris may be in the bottom of the tank and is being stirred up.

You might replace the filter again in the next week or so, depending on how many events occur. And look at what comes out. If clean you may be done with filter replacement for the time being. If more debris, you might consider replacement again in a month or so. The goal is to get as much brown out as possible.

The filter is down stream from the pump. The pump does have it's own screen. However the brown passed through the screen, the pump and was caught in the filter. Hopefully the brown was water than caused a little rust. The pump will pass water easily with little negative effect. Small chunks of solid material will cause damage to the pump. I do not think that has happened because the engine runs OK.

BTW, I typically change the filter every 3 years. On your 15 year old ride I would have changed it 5 times.

Make sure the air filter is clean too.

Checked the Fuel Pump Driver Module and visually everything looked ok. No damage, good connections. Checked air filter, it was good; cleaned the MAF sensor. Drove it around for about 15 minutes and no issues. It will be back on the road today so I will post any updates. Thanks again!

Pull the fuel filter and see what comes out.
If more brown replace it.
If clear post that.

Also if brown, have you filled the tank?

That's a good thing.
Maybe just an old fuel filter and bad fuel making it's way through the system.
An additive might be a good choice at this point. Something that is labeled as a gas drier.

Does the Escape have under 100,000 miles?
