I had some shifting issues ( engine revving between shifts sometimes ) After having the TSB done to flash the PCM it shifts much better . It's like a different transmission.

My '09 2wd Escape has been the shop 7 times within the last year for axle seal, transmission replacement and new parts for that new transmission.
Do you know what was done to the new transmission ?

I'm wondering if Ford has a handle on the 6 speed Escape transmission problems yet ? I know many people have had theirs replaced more than once for various problems. Several people on other blogs have reported trading their Escapes already after several replacements for the same issues. I had some flare shifts and harsh shifts in the beginning, but after having the PCM flash updates it's OK for the time being. My concern is I only have 4500 miles on it and wonder if it's doomed to fail .

I'm also wondering it the Fusion is having any of the same transmission issues that the Escapes are having ? I believe it's the same transmission.

The Fusion has the same transmission as the Escape (6F35).

Most transmission issues with the 6F35 were either axle seals leaking or issues related to "flat towing" the vehicle. These seem to be resolved now.
Not as bad so far as the LH half shaft leaks but there have several posts in forums about RH intermediate shaft leaks on '10 Escapes.

The LH half shaft leaks really surfaced heavily around last Xmas where parts were on national backorder blamed on the Holidays. Here we are months later and still seeing posts where parts on national backorder! To me that just means the problem is vast and will continue depending on how many miles you drive.

I expect to have the problem down the road some time since I'm retired and only ave 3,700 miles on my '09. My PTU is a little bit wet but not dripping. I'll get that looked at during my next oil change which goes by months not milage, of course. I hope that it's only the vent pipe bolt issue!

Anyone with the 6 speed automatic transmission (6F35 ) on a 2009 or 2010 Escape should reference the thread "Customer Satisfaction Program 10B15 " on this forum.

Hopefully Customer Satisfaction Program 10B15 will help to resolve many of the remaining issues. I'm glad Ford has done this.:yesnod:

I'm pleased that Ford came out with the satisfaction recall for the transmission , but I think since there have been so many issues with them , such as the flat tow issue , shifting and slamming into gear problems and the half axle and other leaks they would gain more customer loyalty if they were to extend the drive train warranty to at least 80,000 miles or so. Some of us have even had a cylinder head replaced for the engine knocking issue. I know it would offer me some reassurance.

I've had a few minor problems with the tranny and I've had it reflashed several times, including the latest Customer Satisfaction Program. I can't say I notice much difference now but shifting does seem to be a little smoother than before.

I'm not sure what to make of this . A few days ago after an overnight cold start when I put my transmission in reverse from park it banged into gear quit hard . I've had all the PCM flashes for transmission issues performed as well as the last one with the customer sat recall which was done around 2400 miles ago . The only other time this happened was during the first couple of days after I purchased my Escape . I still have just under 7K miles on it and the is the first issue I've noticed in several thousand miles . I know other 09/10 Escape owners have had this issue , just curious to hear from any owners about their experience with it .
