i might be getting some wheels from an 89 mustang, and need to see if they'll fit on my 79 fairmont. does anybody have any idea how these will fit?

currently my front are 185/75r14

I run the phone dial wheels on the wagon. IIRC, 215/60's are what's on the rim with no issues. Rich
I had 225's on my 85 ltd and had no problems with fitment.

LTD, or LTD II?
An 85 would be the fox LTD. The LTD II was the big ass 70's car
i thought it was the LTD Crown Victoria in 85 too though. the full size one
oh no

no, im referring to the small ltd four door based on the fox body design similar to the continental 4 door.

Perfect!!!!!
they fit on my 63 falcon, they should fit on your fairmont easy
and they did. thanks guys!
Now that you have the tires on.. You might want to check your spedo now. It is probably off due to the change of tire size. I only mention it because few police officers will buy that excuse for speeding...
ok, so becaiuse i forgot to change the speedo gear in the trans when i put the other ratio from the cougar in the back, the accelerometer was saying i was going 5mph slower than actual, once i put the new wheels on it, the speedo evened itself out, and am now only 0.5mph off so that's freaking awesome!

my new question is, and i didn't find another thread on it, but where can i get cheap tires for this? i went to tirerack.com, and the cheapest i can get are around $115, but that's for a S-112 speed rating, and i need the V-140mph rating that are closer to $150 each...
i just want to find other sites that would be cheap. since it's labor day i can't call around to find out tonight...

thanks!
LTD, or LTD II?
johnzo, sorry for not getting back to you but it was the ltd 4 door, fox body platform. the predecessor to your vehicle. bsically the same wheel wells as the mustang.
for tires i would try www.treadepot.com.
EXTENSA A/S
