Hey everyone, new to the forum. My son recently purchased a 64 Fairlane 500 4 door. The car has 6 cylender. My question is, will a 289 or 302 fit the motor mounts. Thanks for your help in advance.
You will need different motor mounts
In addition many other things will need to be changed -
Starter
Fuel line routing
Accelerator linkage
Radiator & hoses
Drive shaft as the 289/302 is a different length
Front springs if original Besides being worn out they will be lighter for the 6
That year all units got 14" wheels which should be 5 lug. They will be drum all the way around and need to be in good shape for the added power. Stock auto trans would work I believe.
I've got a T-10, Hurst shifter and bell housing for sale but you'll need to take some measurements to see what shifter location works best with the Fairlane. Mine's a 64 Falcon.
yea i also have all the parts as i am installing a rod and custom front end have stock motor mounts trottle linkage radiator ect i am changing it all let me know if any interest thanks
