Hey Y`all,
I live in the Houston area and I have had a 64 falcon 2 door for a few years now completely stock with the exception of the interior. The car was probably a dd for some housewife in the early 60`s and kept completely stock in the form of 170 ci inline 6, ford 2 speed ford-o-matic trans and small 4 lug wheels. What I want to do is this: Want to turn this into a little sleeper/rumbler. Considering a mustang II front end, HO 302 complete with 4 barrel, interior resto with period correct colors, surfaces and instrumentation, larger wheels and front and rear disc kits.
What I have: 76 Maverick parts car complete.
Questions:
a) I realize that some components of the mav front end will be compatable ie; the front spindles, brake kit and outer tie rod ends however, can the rear end be utilized including the drive shaft?
b) I plan to harvest the C4 and exploit it, will the current linkage connect to the falcon or will I require a new column?
c) The geometry of the power steering system in the mav is probably not compatible but has anyone ever attempted this? (just an side question as I am planning to use a new front end anyway.)
d) Finally since I will need a professional resto group to assist can anyone suggest or recommend companies in the Houston area with such specialty services?
Any help is greatly appreciated. Real innovation starts with knowing who to call and when.
Regards to all
