so over the weekend i was able to get the front bumper back on. have to find new carriage bolts and nuts. sounds simple but buying local it had some setbacks.
when i took off the f. bumper i kept the mounts on the frame and just unbolted the bumper. installing in reverse was a not working that simple. i ended up pulling the brackets and putting it all together then installing it all at once. also got the taillight assemblies in but still have to get new bulbs for them before done. i would like to go with led type for backup, break/blinker and from blinkers. That's on today's shopping list to find. i also got the falcon letter put back on the trunk.
small steps..............hufff
i'll take some pics this evening

yea, when i installed the rear taillights. the old seals are fare from nice and the color of them stand out big time. so of course, in my mind "well that needs to be replaced" then i think " can i just paint them to match and go with it???? i still need to pull the rear bumper brackets and straighten out one of them. fixing the dent in the bumper will be a fun job. my thoughts on that is to lay that part of the bumper in a bed of hot coals and get it up to temp to work that dent out.

Awesome, I wanna see those pics. Btw, are there just bulbs you can get to make it LED, or do you have to replace the mounting…..🤔

I was looking at the led bulbs and then noticed this note:
""Important: This application may require an LED Bulb Load Equalizer to be installed with this LED bulb""
So, I'm going with reg. bulbs.
No new bumper, fix the one I got.
I fig. if in the end it looks like popo then it's just character / style.

Here at working trying to get work done, yet thinking about what all needs to get done on the car.

  • get dent out of rear bumper
  • paint rear bumper
  • straighten out rear bumper bracket
  • install bumper
  • fix license plate light wire
  • get and install all light bulbs (f. blinkers, rear back up, lic. plt. & rear break light
  • install side mirrors
  • get new battery and install
  • install window track seals
  • get and install window lower seals (inner and outer)
  • fix leaks at back glass
  • redo back dash board
  • get fabric for front seats to get recovered
  • redo all inside door panels (make and cover to match)
  • install headliner
  • redo visors (make and cover to match)
  • wet sand and clear coat car
  • pull tires and strip rims to get painted to match, or buy different rims to match
  • tent windows
  • make and install gas tank pressure relieve

I'm sure there are some things I'm missing...............

so quick question....i want to change out my carb. the old one (factory holley) what is the best to go with that wont require me to modify the intake?
the factory carb i had to re jet to allow more fuel because of the headers and dual exhaust install.
so I'm worried that if i but a factory autolite 1100 that it will have to be jeted.
should i go with the carter yf carb that was used on the 300 inline six?

A Holley 4 barrel ought to address any concerns nicely….😂

I just wish that I could buy a brand new Holley carb for my 62’

Not sure a Holley 4 barrel would fit a 200 six.

The 1100 was stock. Champion has these
One Barrel Carburetors : Champion Carburetor, Your Carburetor & Parts Specialist
I used this company before they changed hands for a rebuild service for a customer. They were OK

Most single barrel carbs will mount to the manifold. It is linkage and anything else attached that will be an issue for a different carb

Well over the weekend i ended up putting in the new taillights, blinkers and rev. lights. got a new battery for it and it took a bit but got it started up.
the float was stuck from setting for so long but with a little tapping on the side of the carb it released and fired up.
still runs rough tho., i'll need to get that carb replaced but i'll drive it till it gives up the ghost.
Got the dent worked out of the rear bumper. (wish i would have taken a pic of the before.)
So what i did was get a pan full of charcoal started and placed the bumper area directly over it till i got to a good temp to work out the dent.

i used a mini slug and a scrap peace of heavy wall tube to get the roundness back into the dented area.
then used the threaded shaft from a c-clap to hammer out the smaller areas.

not perfect but there again i keep telling myself "it's not a show car"
then i used a flapper wheel to get the rust off and the get a good binding surface for primer coat.

time to get it painted, with a little help from i youngest

what had happened i backed into a 4 in dia. pole and put a pole shape dent in it and of course, it was right at the mounting bracket.
