I have a 93 escort with a 1.8L DOHC, it blew a headgasket, and in the process of reassembly i've found that i should have market a hose, cause now i'm lost. Its a 3/8ths inch black rubber hose that runs from the top of the transmission, just under the battery tray up to a mount on the driver's side of the lower half of the intake manifold where it ends with a male-male adapter (for another 3/8ths hose) and a little mounting bracket to the manifold. I have no idea where the hose thats supposed to connect to this is. any help would be great.

Going to be hard to say for sure. That size hose would run the power brake booster so I would start looking there. I think there may be a connection for that on the firewall but the vacuum will come from the intake manifold. :confused5:

yeah, thing is, i've got the line from the brake booster connected and accounted for, as well as (to the best of my knowledge and unless i misread my schematic) having all the vacuum lines from the intake manifold and the valve cover accounted for.

yeah, the hose runs from the top of the transmission (right under the battery tray) up to a bracket that bolts into the lower half of the intake manifold, i'm gonna try to take a couple pictures here and get those posted up.

First picture shows what looks to be the transmission vent tube. If it is screwed into the case and has a vent hole in it, that is what it is. The hose then would be the vent hose and should have nothing on the other end. It looks like the hose is, or was extended to keep the vent from ingesting water. I would just hook it to the male to male connector and leave it open on the high end and put the other end over the trans vent. If you block it off the transmission will belch fluid out the dipstick.

I have a 93 1.9L. I don't know how much difference there is in the vacuum lines but I checked mine and there is no vacuum line connect directly to the top of the tranmission. There is however, a vent on the top of the tranmission that some people connect lines to so that the transmission doesn't leak tranny fluid out. Could this just be an extension of the vent. Check the loose end of the line to see if it actually was on a connector or if it is dirty like it wasn't connected to anything. I can't really make out much from the pictures.

you win, thank you sooo much...this makes perfect sense...looks like I didn't number the hose for a reason eh?
