It may be common failure, IDK, but it has a lot of miles plus 13 years old most likely some parts have worn out.
Have someone bounce the front of the car while you look around to pin point the source.

odds are it's the strut bearings. it happens over time...

could it be a sway bar end link? i checked out some stuff and saw that the rubber boots were practically gone on one of the end links
could be.
