Couple of months ago I had my rack & pinion replaced. In my adventures of taking off my head assemblies. I just noticed that the inner boots are compressed. Sort of looks like a vacuum has sucked them to a distorted appearance. Is this normal? I didn't put the part in due to it still being winter & didn't have a garage. So I paid someone to install it...If it doesn't rain I'll try & take a few photos of it & post them.

The installers must have kinked the breather tube going to both boots or it was not equalized during the re-build process. Take it back or release the small clamp on the end of the boot. Pry up the edge to relieve the vaccum....install the clamp.

or, whoever aligned it turned the tie rods without releasing the clamp on the boot. That twists them up.
