I agree with Jonzo. Also it is a good idea to get out and walk around the car a few times every 2-3 hours to reduce the chance of blood clots developing in the legs.
Figure you'll get 20 miles per gallon (you'll probably do better than that), and that you have a 13 gallon tank. SO you can get 250 miles to a tank and have ten miles to look for a gas station. To maintain a 1/4 tank reserve in a 13 gallon tank is 3.3 gallons @ approx $2.75 per gallon; that comes to $9.08
If you do not have a $10 buffer, you probably should not make the trip. What if the car needs more serious repairs?
I am sorry that you are so financially strapped. That however doesn't give you the right to get snippy with people who are trying to help you dispite the fact that they do not know you.
