What was the designation for the three speed stick in the 62 fairlanes? I've been trying Google today and coming up bipcus.

I need to get a rebuild kit for it. All the seals on the car I just bought are shot. But kinda hard to look up a kit without knowing what they call the thing. Lol

A cruise o matic or called a dual range by Ford.
On the door or jamb there is a warranty plate with a transmission code. The code should be 4.
    Other transmission codes are 1 & 2.

I believe I mis-understood your post. And you have a manual transmission not an automatic.
If yes the transmission code would be a 1. Please confirm.

From the net all I can find is a T-10 which I thought was a 4 speed. But I am not that good with manual transmissions.

Thank you. I'll look into it. I'll see if I can find a pic of the T-10 inspection plate shape and see if it matches up with mine. I'm also gonna explore and see what tags are still on the car and if they're readable.

Not the T-10. That is the four speed. This is a three.

It may be a Ford designed and manufactured manual transmission.
I am not finding anything on the net that gives the detail.

A shop manual set would be the way to go.

The transmission that was behind the
The 3-speed standard that was behind the 221 engine was called a 259 3-speed the only other 3-speed standard they used was smaller and had a top plate with 4 bolts, that one was used in the mustang and a few other small fords it was called a HED 3-speed.

The oldest and easiest shop manual I have is a 1966. And it is for full sized.
By that time the 3 speed was a 3.03. (AKA Toploader) With a model designation of HEF & HEG. Used behind 240, 289, 352, 390 and 410 engines

gman has the tickets for this topic!!!!

Hey Gman, thanks for that info! That's what I needed! Everything I could find just simply called it the "ford three speed stick" even pages giving the stats. They would call the other trannies by name. But this one was just the ford three speed stick. Lol

Yeah mine doesn't have four bolts on the plate. It has 9 all total.
