I have a 1993 F-250 xl with the E4OD from a 93 F250 xlt. I have filled it and replaced pan gasket but it has a small leak from the top and it also shifts hard, when it can. Every time I try to start I have to lightly feather the gas until I’m at about a quarter throttle and from there it will only get up to 40mph. There’s no speedometer or odometer for some reason and no light blinking on the shifter

Welcome to the FFO!

There is a speed sensor on the side of the transmission or inline with the speedo cable. It controls speedometer, speed control and electronic engine control. If that sensor no longer functions the EEC system has a difficult time understanding is the vehicle is moving.
If the speed sensor is not working it will trip the check engine light.

The odometer function is based on the speedometer cable.

Is the check engine light on?
