I have recently converted 1989 351w Motor from Fuel Injection to Carb. The problem I am currently stuck on is the distributor. Obviously I cant use the old Electronic Distributor. I took a distributor out of an older 351w Carb Motor and the distributor shafts are different. The older distributor shaft being shorter and the newer distributor Longer. Am i able to use the short shaft distributor on the newer motor or no? If not what can i use and where can i buy it?

sounds like mabey you are using a dist from a 302. you can use either 70s to early 80s duraspark system or 60s to early 70s point dist. either way you must use 351 windsor dist only.

There both from 351w's positive. The older one is from a 1978 351w with a short tail. And the one from the 1989 351w Is a long tail. The shafts seem very different. I cant post images but you can just google hei and efi distributors from a 351w.

ok then do this, list the numbers on each distributer. they will start with a letter folowed by a series of numbers.

are you sure it has to be from a 351W? my 302 is using one i pulled from a 460...
