I have a '90 bronco 302 Eddie Bauer with electric door locks and windows.
The passenger window works fine, as does the rear window.
The door locks also work.

The driver's door window went down OK, but when I try to bring it up:
1. it does not go up
2. my radio shuts off
3. my abs light comes on on the dash

If I let go of the switch, the radio comes back on and the abs light goes off.

I am pretty sure that the door locks radio and windows are all on the same circuit. Also that it is a circuit breaker and not a fuse.

Before I tear into this... anyone have any comments? thoughts? Things I should consider or look for?

Sounds like the lift motor is shot IMO but you already knew that. :)
IIRC the regulator is riveted to the door with 1/4" rivets. You can use short bolts going back together, just use lock-tite or lock washers or both.
Don't cut yourself

Jim, I thought that it is one motor and that it goes up or down by reversing the polarity. Since it goes down, I think it should go up. No?

Yep, it reverses the polarity but.....it takes a lot more power to go up than down. You could try just lubing the channels but it's most likely on it's way out. The driver window is usually the first one to take a dump.
I guess you could try adjusting the channels too if the window has a lot of slop in it's tracks.

Nah.. it's not the channels, it's either the motor or the switch. It doesn't make any effort at all. I hoping for the switch.
LOL... wish me luck :)

If it were an "open" switch, your radio and ABS would not react. If the motor is stalled and shorted, the voltage on that circuit is effectively pulled down, and maybe that is why the radio stops working.
While the motor might still be operable in the down position, the armature might have jumped over and is shorting out in the reverse direction.

They make a clever diagnostic tool for this tho....

Note: If the motor is worn out, the bushings are sloppy, and the armature can "move about".

LOL... one of my favorite tools!

I think I'll use a test light first.

Electronics Electrical wiring Technology Electronic component Electronic engineering

and if I'm not happy with the results, then I'll use my dual purpose hammer.

electro... thanks for the diagram, it is the same one I have in my paper EVTM.

Ground 500 is inside the driver's door near the speaker.
The Radio gets grounded G100 LH Upper radiator support.

The only thing listed on the window CB circuit are the windows.

The radio is not original equipment, so God only knows how it is wired in there.

How the ABS light is related? Got me!

Poppy, just a suggestion, I dont remember the configuration of your switches, but if the rocker part is removeable pull it out, invert it and try to put the window up.

Thanks lincolndriver.

I just finished breakfast and am about to tackle that baby now.
I'll let you know how it goes.

Yahoo!!! All done!

I pulled the switch, got out my test light, connected it to a ground and turned the key on. Pushed the up button and it worked!

I inspected the wiring harness and saw that it was a little chewed up from rubbing. A little electrical tape, and all is good in bronco world! :)

Shi* it is too early for an ice cream reward :( hmmm... maybe a chocolate bar? :)

You deserve a Mars bar!
LOL... thanks! One of my favorites is the $100,000 bars. I don't seem to find them around anymore. Salty pretzels diped in chocolate and caramel ! Hmm um. Just doesn't get any better than that! :)
